I do feel that it is far more easier to paint with oils like van Gogh then using acrylics. You don't see the brush strokes as much when using acrylic paints.
I keep liking to paint like van Gogh, my hero. And so today I bought some real oil paints. A very very cheap set, for I didn't know if I would like it. It had 12 different colors, and non of the colors from the wrappers round the tube resembled anything like the colors that were inside. The titanium white looked more like a gray. The orange more like a red. And the paints was realy thick, so I sometimes just behaved like van Gogh, puting the paste-like paint directly on the canvas to smear it out. I did have some turpentine (which made me feel high in an instance), but even using that could not prevents the paint being highly sticky. In the end I did use acrylic paint for the white parts, for I didn't like the gray version. Mixing acrylic white with the other oil paints went pretty well. I do feel that it is far more easier to paint with oils like van Gogh then using acrylics. You don't see the brush strokes as much when using acrylic paints. Here's a close up.
